The Fourth Trine

The 12 signs of the Ming Shui (Circle of Animals) of the Chinese Zodiac are split into four groups of three animals each. These divisions are referred to as “trines.” Each trine contains animals that are not sequential in the Circle but are four years apart.

Purpose of Trines

The purpose of the trine is to help you understand what animals are compatible. The three animals selected are strongly co-related in terms of specific facets. As a result, you may easily compare and understand their compatibility in terms of such things as family matters, business associations, and personal relationships. The animals found in each Trine are perceived as being very alike in such aspects as personality, outlook, and mindset, to name a few.

Members of the Fourth Trine

  • Rabbit or Hare (T’u) – The direction associated with this animal is the east
  • Sheep, Ram or Goat (Yáng ) – The directions associated with this animal are the south and southwest
  • Pig (Chi) – The directions associated with this animals are the north and northwest

Common Characteristics Of The Fourth Trine Animals

The focus of these particular animals is on beauty and what is aesthetically perfect. This, together with their creative sensibilities ties them together. In general, the positive characteristics of this particular Trine are:

  • Calm
  • Virtuous
  • Prudent
  • Scrupulous
  • Well-mannered
  • Compassionate
  • Caring
  • Self-sacrificing
  • Obliging
  • Sensible
  • Empathetic
  • Considerate
  • Prudent

On the other hand, the Rabbit, Sheep and Pig may also be perceived as being:

  • Naïve
  • Gullible
  • Dull
  • Insecure
  • Crafty
  • Hesitant
  • Pessimistic
  • Obstinate

General Differences of Fourth Trine Animals

As is to be expected, the differences of the animals results in a different approach being taken when dealing with situations. The Sheep is more dependent upon others and so likes to work as part of a group. The Pig, on the other hand, is not really a social being. It acts with directness and honesty. The Hare is not one for open change. It will move forward but needs the right kind of guidance and support.

How They Relate

This is a sign that wants both beauty and finesse in a lover. As givers rather than takers, the members of this Trine find themselves open to abuse and disillusion if they pick the wrong personalities. With fragile hearts worn on their sleeves, it is best for a Goat, Rabbit, or Pig to turn toward members of their own Trine for marriage and close relationships. Hares make the best friends with Goats. Pigs also know how to motivate a Goat in the right fashion and direction. A Pig-Goat combination romantically or socially results in a very sweet pairing.

In business matters, a Goat can always rely on a Pig or Hare and vice versa. Pigs find Goats useful in business. The combination of the Pig’s luck and scruples with the Goat’s guile can result in some very good business results. While a Hare may make a good business partner with either the Goat or the Pig, it is not reliable as a mate.{#/wp-content/uploads/images/pig.jpg}

The zodiac animals of the Fourth Trine are truly characterized by their sympathetic and emotional nature. Although they could be leaders, they rarely are. They instead pursue beauty and are not caught up in the lust for material worth. Scrupulous in their dealings with each other and all other signs, it is easy to see how these people can be easily misled in love, business, and friendships.
